Piazza Theatre Building - Central main Street

Once the hub of local social activity this grand old building has history dating back to 1888. Formerly a picture theatre the building is now occupied by a real estate office and retail beauty shop. The main entrance was utilised as a gift shop for a period and is currently vacant. The upper level was also utilised for a number of businesses over the years including Surveyors, dental clinics and a variety of general office uses. The site is currently heavily under utilised and could produce exceptional income once additional renovations / upgrades are completed.

The original cinema was built by Walter Barrett, with the screen at the Bridge street end. It was operated as The Strand by Mr. McKenzie until, 1924, when Mr. Charles Wall purchased the freehold. In 1938 he modernized the front by adding a central entrance and two shops and renamed it The Piazza. It ceased functioning as a theatre in 1984. The first floor provided space as the original RSL Club, the Muswellbrook Coal Co. office and dental surgeries. (Information from the Muswellbrook Heritage Walk)

The rear section has recently undergone extensive renovation works to provide an additional 450m2 of lettable space. Renovations included removal of the original asbestos cladding and re-cladding in colobond sheeting as well as a complete new roof. The rear section is now a level floor right through.
To the rear is a Council car-park with room on site to create a number of private on-site parking spaces.
